Academic Tutoring

Grades 7–12 | Biology • Chemistry • Algebra-Based Physics • AP Physics 1 • AP Physics 2

Academic tutoring improves not just grades, but confidence, motivation, and independent thinking. I work with students in grades 7–12 to strengthen their understanding of core science subjects—biology, chemistry, and algebra-based physics—with a special focus on success in AP Physics 1 and 2. Whether a student needs steady academic support, help catching up, or an extra challenge, each session is tailored to meet their needs with clarity, structure, and encouragement.

I bring my background as a classroom science teacher to each session, using a mix of content review, problem-solving strategies, and skill-building to help students become stronger, more self-reliant learners. Over time, students learn how to ask better questions, analyze problems with precision, and apply what they know with confidence in tests, labs, and real-world contexts.

Summer Tutoring

Summer is an ideal time to build a strong academic foundation without the pressure of a full course load. Students have more mental space and flexibility, which makes it easier to focus deeply and make meaningful progress.

Common summer objectives include:

  • Getting ahead in preparation for a challenging science course in the fall (such as AP Physics or Honors Chemistry)

  • Filling gaps after a tough semester or incomplete course

  • Repeating a course in a more focused, one-on-one environment

  • Rebuilding skills and confidence after a frustrating school year

Summer tutoring can also be an opportunity to explore science in a more relaxed and inquisitive way, helping students rediscover curiosity and rebuild their academic self-image.

AP Test Prep

AP Physics 1 & 2 Test Prep with Purpose

My AP Physics 1 and 2 test prep services are built to help students earn scores that reflect their full potential—scores that align with their ability, transcript, and long-term academic goals. Whether students are aiming for college credit, strengthening a STEM-focused application, or building confidence in physics, we focus on the core of what matters: mastering the material and learning how to perform under pressure.

But the process goes deeper than just prepping for the test.

Along the way, students develop powerful skills that support success far beyond exam day:

  • Breaking down complexity — Learning to take large, abstract problems and convert them into clear, manageable steps.

  • Problem-solving under pressure — Building strategies to approach unfamiliar scenarios with clarity and confidence.

  • Careful reading and thinking — Training to decode multi-layered questions, understand what’s being asked, and apply the right principles.

  • Academic resilience — Learning how to overcome confusion, setbacks, and tough questions by adjusting strategies, not giving up.

Each session is personalized to the student’s pace, background, and learning style. We combine targeted content review with real AP-style problems, whiteboard-based collaboration, and timed practice to help students sharpen both their understanding and performance. Whether it’s mastering kinematics, circuits, fluids, or waves, the goal isn’t just to “beat the test”—it’s to build the kind of understanding and thinking that lasts.

Online Tutoring

Why Online Tutoring Works

As a science teacher who taught and tutored exclusively online during the pandemic, I saw firsthand that trust and connection—the cornerstones of any successful tutoring relationship—can be built just as effectively through a screen as in person.

While distance learning in schools may have left some families skeptical of online instruction, it’s important to recognize that online tutoring is a different experience altogether—often more focused, personal, and effective. Here’s why:

  • One-on-one beats one-to-many. Unlike classroom teaching, tutoring creates a dedicated space where a student can’t slip into the background. Every moment of a session is personalized and engaging. The tutor is fully focused on one learner, tailoring instruction to meet their exact needs.

  • The tools are powerful. I use an interactive online whiteboard that acts like a shared notebook—we can both write, sketch, and upload materials like homework sheets or lab diagrams. Students can revisit those pages anytime, day or night, which reinforces learning between sessions.

  • It’s flexible and cost-efficient. Online tutoring eliminates travel time, making it easier to fit into busy schedules. It can also be more affordable, since there are fewer logistical costs involved.

In short: Online tutoring combines personalized attention with digital flexibility - and when done right, it’s every bit as effective as in-person support.
